Let's discuss your photo session
Why are you booking with Photography by Kimberli?
Who will be included in your session?
What type of session should you book?
When should you schedule your session?
Where will your session take place?
How will you use the images from your session?
Answering these questions will help you decide if Photography by Kimberli is right for you, and which session option you should choose (see the Investment page). I'd also love to do a consultation over the phone or in person. It's important that you connect with your photographer!
Photography by Kimberli offers lifestyle photography; directing, rather than posing, you and your family, to capture the most authentic emotions and moments. Your session should be fun. You should laugh often, smile effortlessly, and let your true personality shine through! There will be moments when I ask everyone to smile at the camera, but there will also be images of your children laughing and tickling each other, running and jumping, even doing cartwheels or twirling in circles. My goal is for others to see the best representation of your family when they look at your photos.
Will this be a family session? Or will we focus on one child for a birthday or a milestone? Are you planning to include the grandparents, or invite the whole extended family to join the session? Considering these options will help me determine which type of session is best for you. Although I do not charge extra for extended families or large groups, if I feel the session can not be completed in one hour or less, I will suggest doing a custom session with enough time to achieve all your goals!
Are you looking for a full session with a lot of variety? Do you just need 25 minutes to capture this year's family photo for the holiday card? Are you in need of a couple headshots for your website or LinkedIn profile? Tell me your goals for the session and I'll help you decide which session would best achieve those goals. And if we need more time for your child's first birthday party or your family reunion, a custom session can be created for you.
My favorite time to photograph families is the fall, but I book outdoor sessions year round... whether in the rainy spring, the hot summer, the colorful fall, or the snowy winter, if you're interested in doing an outdoor session, let's make it work! The lighting is best early in the morning (as the sun is rising) or late in the day (an hour before the sun sets), but depending on your choice of location, almost any time of day will work, except high noon. Doing an in-home session? Midday is best, when the sun is over your house, avoiding direct sunlight through your windows. Most of all, lets get your session booked early, so you have your choice of day and time. Fall sessions should be booked by September so you don't miss your opportunity for photos before the leaves all fall!
I am based in Naperville, but I will travel to Chicago and suburbs in a 50 mile radius. Any location beyond that may incur a travel fee (to be determined at time of booking). I am a permit holder in DuPage County Forest Preserves and Lake County Forest Preserves, and will also photograph in Kane, Will & Cook Counties. If you have a favorite location, please let me know and I'll look into your suggestion. Otherwise, I've worked in many parks, beaches and public spaces and can make a recommendation to suit your needs. If you'd rather invite me to your home, I'd be happy to do your session in-home.
My session packages include a digital download of fully edited, high resolution jpeg images from the session, accompanied by a print release. Although I understand the desire to own all the images, I encourage my clients to explore the possibilities of displaying and sharing their images, thus offering my expertise in a complimentary post session ordering appointment where we can discuss wall art, albums or prints. The a la carte session option does not include digital files or other print products, but includes a print credit and complimentary post session ordering appointment.
